Hello! Me again…
I’ve really been meaning to get back into blogging, and whilst this year may have seemed like the perfect time to do this, I have really struggled to find the motivation. I’d rather post less than post writing of a bad standard (or worse than it usually is, anyway), so sorry I’ve been a bit quiet!
My last ‘Life Update’ was at the beginning of this year and we had just moved to France to work as Chalet Hosts for the season! You can read more about our lives as Chalet Hosts in this post. We then moved to Bali for a month before having to return home due to (you guessed it!) Coronavirus.
We spent a couple of weeks in a lovely flat on the beach self-isolating before moving into our house – a lovely village cottage I actually spent most of my teenage years living in. Village life was very different to what we were used to, but was a welcome change during lockdown and we definitely enjoyed slow living – for the first few months anyway. After not having our ‘own place’ since moving out of our Bristol flat in May 2019, it was really nice to have our own space again and I was super grateful for this during lockdown – especially having a garden!
We finally made it here…
Our 2019 plan after leaving Bristol had been to move to Brighton after the summer, but we’d put this on hold when we fell in love with the idea of spending the winter season in the Alps. The new plan was to spend the 2019/20 season in the mountains, return to the UK in the Spring and then spend the Summer on various travels. Of course, all our travel plans were cancelled, and we found ourselves back in Cornwall. I love being home and am so lucky to be from such a beautiful place, which was such a great place to spend the Summer this year with everything going on. We had the best few months spent on deserted beaches (before Cornwall became the busiest place in the WORLD). As things started to return to normal (ish) and restrictions were listed, we began to look at places in Brighton. We were a year later than originally planned, but made our move in September 2020 to our lovely new flat!
Why Brighton?
Everyone always asks us this, and we don’t really have a ‘solid’ reason. We’d visited a few times (read about that here!) and loved it, we loved living in a city with lots to do, didn’t really fancy London yet but liked the idea of being close to it… We both felt like we’d outgrown Bristol a little bit and wanted a change, and Brighton seemed like a nice next step for us. It was still quite similar, but had beaches and seemed a bit more arty. As I said – not a solid reason! James also has friends here, a lot of my friends live near here (London & surrounding areas) so it just seemed to make sense. The only downside is we’re super far from Cornwall!
We’ve now been here a month, and whilst we love the city, moving here just before new restrictions came in has meant it’s been pretty hard to meet new people! Our flat is slowly starting to come together – we’re basically all furnished now apart from a sofa.. We had a bit of a nightmare with one fitting up the stairs (we’re top floor and it’s VERY narrow) so we’ve ordered a flatpack one that keeps getting delayed.. Fingers crossed it will arrive ONE DAY. For now though we’ve learnt to love a blow up camping sofa which is so much better than I expected! Expect more posts to come on things to do in Brighton, our flat and much more!

It really did! But we got here in the end 🙂 Thank you! It is an amazing place, if you ever get the chance you should definitely visit to see for yourself! x
Congrats on your move – I bet that was super stressful during COVID as well. I’ve been to Brighton a couple of times and from what I remember it’s a lovely eclectic town with that fabulous beach. I hope you’ll be very happy there – as well as super fit having a top floor flat! x

Congrats on the move! Brighton is absolutely gorgeous especially in summer – and with one train straight to London Vic, literally no place more convenient to be! xx

I can’t wait for us to be here during the summer! Yes – we’ve been into London twice already, it’s so quick and easy! Also super close to Gatwick for travel (one day we’ll be able to go away!). xx
Wow, this all sounds lovely! I have never been to Brighton but it looks like somewhere I would love to visit!
